Owner and designer of fashion label Ueno
During her studies at Raffles Design Institute, Hiroko participated in many competitions. Her past participation in competitions such as Smirnoff Experience Singapore/London Graduates’ Fashion Showcase (2002), International Women’s Wear Design Contest (Shanghai, 2002), Singapore Young Designer Contest (2003) has prepared her with a strong foundation for her winning at the Mercedes-Benz Singapore Fashion Award 2005. This Hokkaido-born gal who is a Singapore permanent resident then represented Singapore to compete in the regional competition.
Prior to winning the Mercedes-Benz Singapore Fashion Award, she held the post of fashion designer at Song & Kelly 21. With the Mercedes-Benz Singapore Fashion Award under her belt, she is currently pursuing her dream of starting her own fashion label, “Ueno”. Hiroko has planned for “Ueno” to take off as a regional label with strong interest from overseas buyers.
