Winner of larry jewellery design competition (2004)
Current employment:
Director (Acacia Design)
Creativity and Innovation in a Classic
Style. This pretty much sums up Jervis Mun, graduate with
the Bachelor of Arts in Product Design from Raffles Design
Institute in 2004. Hes quite an entrepreneur too. Together
with two graduates, they set up Acacia Design, a brand
management consultancy firm where he currently resides as
director.
He speaks with glowing pride of his latest
win at the Larry Jewellery Design Competition. Pearl
In the City, his winning entry, was inspired by
the unique city planning of the streets of Paris. Reflecting
organic forms, his work shows a mature and almost structured
approach to design and creativity.
His versatility is further enhanced through
his plans in the pipeline at Acacia Design. They have
recently won a contract with a budding electronics firm in
New York to design a range of MP3 players, "smaller
than the ipod shuffle, he says in mock horror.
He muses about the future of design, and puts
his money on wearable technology - a result of rapid globalisation.
This sentiment is supported by Programme Director of 3D Design,
Raffles Design Institute, Ms. Julie Ross,
The boundaries
of design are getting increasingly blurred, and what we will
see is a wonderful hybrid of technology and design, whereby
products are designed with functions infused with high technology
in mind.
