Current employment:
Owner of interior design firm, Rod.wynn
From office buildings to
snazzy bachelor pads, this 25 year old bachelor has just set
up Rod.Wynn, a local design firm catering to growing demand
for designer spaces.
Undeterred by newer wabi
sabi (derived from Zen Buddhism) and shabby chic styles,
Robin Hoong, a June 2004 graduate from the Interior Design
programme designs with feng shui principles in mind. His repertoire
consists of fresh makeovers based on principles of joyous
living, designs derived from nature and an appreciation of
simplicity.
Since his graduation, he has been kept busy
by a steady stream of projects from Century Cineplex Tampines,
Café Cartel, The Australian Embassy and conceptual
designs for OCBC Bank and Subzero Cold Bar, under previous
companies such as 6dimensions design and décor and
SpaceOne Interior Design.
A natural designer, Robin showcases his expertise
for making the most under challenging constraints, having
recently revamped a residential apartment into a snazzy bachelor
pad as featured in The Straits Times. He is currently working
on an exciting series of residential projects to be completed
in August this year.
Robin believes the fast pace of work at Raffles
Design Institute has prepared him for the industry. Most
say that classes at school are very slowly paced and irrelevant,
but I strongly disagree. At Raffles Design Institute, the
classes are very similar to actual design situations and timeframes.
Punctuality and pressing deadlines
are all part of industry,
he adds with a laugh.
Describing his experience at Raffles Design
Institute as exciting and fufilling,
Robin is grateful to his lecturers for their guidance and
support during the completion of the Advanced Diploma. He
modestly attributes his success to the wealth of knowledge
from lecturers and the conducive studying environment.
