"Towkay Neo" in the Hokkien dialect means the "Lady Boss".

Ziyi who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Fashion Design from Raffles Design Institute (Singapore), joined the other 2,000 successful EntrePass applicants to set up her first boutique in Singapore and be the boss of "Ziyi Fashion Studio".

The EntrePass is an employment pass scheme for foreign entrepreneur looking to set up shop in Singapore. Since the scheme started 3 years ago, it has attracted more than 5,000 applications and Ziyi is one of the successful applicants.

Ziyi is also a familiar name in the Singapore's fashion industry. Her Degree collection was inspired by Picasso's work, the Blue Period and the Rose Period which are largely considered by art critics as the best of his work. She used daring combination of colours, contrasts and imaginative designs to create a sense of mystery and emotions.

Besides showcasing this collection at her Graduation Fashion Show in 2005, her collection was featured in i-Weekly magazine as one of six young designers in Singapore and she was also voted as one of the Top 20 Most Popular Noise Artists in Noise Singapore 2005, a youth arts festival run by the National Arts Council. Famous movie director, Mr Jack Neo took notice of Ziyi's talent and invited her to design the outfit for MediaCorp artists, Kym Ng and Patricia Mok.

During her interview with Gracia Chiang of the Straits Times (5 August 2006) - "The New Towkay - The other Ziyi", Ziyi said that if she had stayed on in Chongqing, she would not have learnt much. She will not be contented to just opening more shops. Therefore, she started planning her business in Singapore and she is putting the final touches to her label, "Ziyi" which will debut in early October at Far East Plaza retailing urban street wear cater to the edgy 20s and 30-somethings.

Besides Ziyi, many Raffles Designers like Jay Quek & Madeleine Wong (POSSE Studio), Jonathan Cheng (Jonathan Cheng Homme) , Kathleen Loi (Rabbithabit), Hiroko Ueno (Ueno), Luke Eljiah (to-a-tee), Desmond Yang (Abyzz) etc have also set up their own fashion labels and retailing regionally.
